Role Description


The Senior Network and Security Specialist will assist with ensuring the operation of all systems infrastructure, voice and data networks, and data centre operations for the Hub and assigned managed spoke offices.


They will assist the Network and Security Manager to manage support, operation and implementation of Infrastructure and upgrades; implement the infrastructure roadmap and recommend changes to it to meet capacity and business needs and to resolve incidents and problems across all assigned regional offices.


They will assist with the day-to-day monitoring and control of infrastructure for assigned hub and spokes and develop and implement processes in line with global standards where appropriate which meet the needs of the region.


The technical responsibilities of this role will include support (level 2 & 3) of all Network related matter including data network, voice network, security, data centre operation, DR process and procedures, DR testing and enterprise systems.


Participate in the incident management process in case of any P1 and/or P2 (Priority 1 and Priority 2) incidents occurring.


They will also work closely with assigned regional project managers on specific projects. Work requests will be managed and prioritised with the assigned project managers and resources will be provided to assist these projects within operational and fiscal constraints.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide 3rd level support for all infrastructure components in the Asia Pacific region environment. Third level support will kick in when 1st and 2nd line cannot resolve the issue and depends on the severity of issue, incident management processes to follow in order to meet defined SLA / OLA.

  • Manage and develop the regional infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability of system.

  • Assist with capacity planning activities for infrastructure components in a proactive fashion to ensure system performance is maintained and upgrades are anticipated well in advance to allow for correct resource planning to be applied.

  • Ensure the environment meets the security and technical standards mandated by the Firm and (where applicable) the supplier.

  • Apply system upgrades as required by local requirements and global standards.

  • Recommend system updates and changes.Assist with managing the data centre environments. This includes components such as the air conditions and UPS. In many cases vendors will manage these components but the team will need to ensure that the systems meets requirements.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for local, regional and global projects.

  • Perform in-team project management where appropriate.

  • Create users tip sheets for use by 1st and 2nd level teams.

  • The implementation and ongoing support of IT Operations security and security practices in the assigned hub and spoke offices.

  • Provide training to 1st and 2nd level teams on new systems.

  • Work with change management to ensure changes are correctly managed and controlled.

  • Maintain the infrastructure testing environment.

  • Create and maintain test script, back out plans and upgrade instructions for systems. Ensure that the teams using these are briefed on them and understand them. At times the spoke IT Manager may be required to undertake the upgrade work.

  • Ensure the reliability and availability of any infrastructure DR and backup systems within the region.

  • Assist with office expansions where there will be an impact on back office systems.

  • Communication, planning and reporting:

  • Providing regular reports/updates to the Network and Security Manager, and Regional Infrastructure Manager.

  • Participate in infrastructure team meetings as required.

  • Hold regular meetings as required to support the activities of the team.

  • Pro-actively promote ideas to improve the IT service.

Skills and Qualifications


  • Working experience in Data and Voice network technology

  • Expert knowledge in Enterprise LAN, WAN, MAN

  • Excellent knowledge of Network product such as Cisco, Checkpoint

  • Good knowledge of infrastructure services, networks and peripheral equipment

  • Thorough understanding/experience in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TACACS+/RADIUS, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP

  • Knowledge of ITIL

  • Ability to work as a team member to bring value to the team

  • Totally service orientated

  • Good skills in procedure development and implementation

  • Good communications skills

  • Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio

  • Good planning and organizing skills

  • Discretion and reliability

  • At least 8 years experience in a similar role
